Private school in Sydney have responded to the economic downturn by keeping fee increases to less than half the inflation rate. The Sydney Anglican School Corporation is particularly concerned by economic situation.
The state's main aged-care home operators - including ARV - have boycotted the Federal Government's annual offer of nursing home bed licences, leading some to predict a significant shortage of places in the near future.

Welfare agency Anglicare says the rising costs of electricity are beginning to push more people on low incomes over the edge.
"Paradoxically, it may seem as though this step is a division, but it is really to help us not to divide by giving us more flexibility," says Archbishop Jensen, secretary for GAFCON's leadership council. He spoke by phone as a "close observer," not officially for the council.

A SYDNEY private school's investment in Aboriginal children is starting to pay off, with dramatically improved literacy and numeracy results.
The Hammondville project was devised by the far-sighted Canon R.B.S. Hammond, the long-time rector of St Barnabas Church, in Broadway, to move the poor into low-cost, self-help homes where they could make a fresh start and recover a sense of self-esteem.
